According to Yonhap News,

Reclamation of Saemangeum Industrial Complex Section 1-2 will start in July, following that of Section 1-1.

Saemangeum Gunsan Free Economic Zone (SGFEZ) Authority said on April 14th that it plans to prepare land for Section 1-1, whose reclamation was finished last year, with dredged earth of 3.31m3 and to start reclaiming Section 1-2 in July.

The reclamation area of Section 1-2 will be 2.54m2, and the final design will be commissioned late this month to place an order for reclamation construction.

Saemangeum Industrial Complex will be created on the area of 18.7 millionm2, twice the size of Yeouido, by 2018, and attract green technology industries such as wind power and photovoltaic energy, the auto parts industry, and shipbuilding and maritime industries.

An official of SGFEZ Authority said “Section 1-1 will be reclaimed by the end of this year and OCI will make an investment in the section. We plan to sell Section 2-2 in parcel quickly by beginning the reclamation in July.”
