According to Yonhap news,
Gunsan Container Terminal(GCT) is projected to record a surplus for the first time in 9 years since its establishment in 2004.
North Jeolla Province said on August 9 that the GCT is expected to surpass its yearly target of 120,000 TEU by the end of this year.
With a surge in container traffic, the GCT earned KRW 348 million in profits by July this year. This is the first time that the GCT run surplus.
The province projected that the profit is projected to exceed KRW 500 million as this trend continues.
An official said that the improved performance is attributable to an increase in landing charge, reduction of lease fees, and provision of incentives to shippers.
