According to Yonhap News,

Jeonbuk (northern Jeolla) Province has made comprehensive measures to attract tourists in the 2012 Visit Jeonbuk Year, taking advantage of Yeosu EXPO scheduled to open in southern Jeolla Province.

On February 15, Kim Wan-ju, governor of Jeonbuk, said at the press conference that he will make Jeonbuk as a major tourist attraction, taking advantage of a huge popularity of Korean pop culture all around the world.

Governor Kim explained the province will use the Korean Wave and EXPO as an opportunity to draw five million more tourists as compared to the last year.

Last year, the number of visitors to Jeonbuk amounted to 63 million, which led to the 890 billion worth-economic benefits.

The province especially focuses on developing tour programs linking to the international event Yeosu EXPO and tourist attractions.

It posted the introduction of its major tourist attractions on the website of Yeosu EXPO Organization Committee and designated 71 facilities, such as hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.

"The greatest attraction of Jeonbuk is its kind people. We will make our utmost efforts to impress tourists and make them want to visit Jeonbuk later again," says Governor Kim.
