According to Yonhap News,          

North Jeolla Province (Jeonbuk) has unveiled its plan to implement Design Development Support Project for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) struggled with marketing due to their external packaging and design that lag behind their good quality products.

The province set aside about 200 million won of budget to select 7 professional design companies for 30 SMEs.

It will support about 50-70 percent of development costs for four sectors including external packaging and catalogue.

For instance, a manufacturer of LED traffic light successfully concluded an agreement with public institutions based on a local government's support for developing its catalogues.

"Design management is emerging as a core element of a company's competitiveness. We will provide all possible supports for SMEs to expand their sales channels with good designs," said Lee Sang-min, a Jeonbuk official in charge of corporate support.
