According to Yonhap News,

The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs announced its plan to designate a 2.322 million square meter-site in Iksan City, North Jeolla Province as a national industrial complex specializing in food.

A total of 252.2 billion won will be injected into building the complex.

Unlike other general industrial complexes utilizing industrial water, the complex will use first-grade clean water, released from Yongdam Dan, and recycle waste water via underground water treatment facilities.

It will also provide land, marine and air transportation services. It is a three minute and 20 minute drive to Honam Highway and West Sea Highway, respectively. If completed, Honam KTX line will enable people to come to and from Seoul within an hour.

Gunsan Port and an airport, located within a 50-minute drive distance, can be utilized as a gateway to export and import goods. Saemangeum New Port, scheduled to begin operation in 2020, will serve as a major logistics hub.

In addition, the city's being equipped with cutting-edge devices and excellent human resources will support all manufacturing processes of a company from development to tests and small-scale production.

The complex is expected to generate 23,235 jobs and 4.3304 trillion won worth-production, the ministry forecasts. About 150 food-related companies to be relocated to the complex will increase the income of farmers and fishermen and boost the regional economy.
