According to Yonhap News,
CJ Cheiljedang inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MIFAFF) Tuesday to build FOODPOLIS in Iksan, north Jeolla Province (Jeonbuk).
The FOODPOLIS project is designed to accumulate food-related companies, research institutes and institutions to a place to support each other's operation.
The Korean government plans to establish FOODPOLIS (2.32 million square meter) and a 1.26 million comprehensive city surrounding the food cluster by 2015, just like the Netherlands' Food Valley and America's Napa Valley.
"The national food cluster project will lay a foundation for developing the domestic food industry and stimulating the regional economy," said Vice President of CJ CheilJedang Kim Jong-hyeon.
