According to Yonhap News,

Hyosung’s carbon fiber plant in Jeonju-si (City), Jeollabuk-do (Province) will begin commercial production in March.

Hyosung plans to gradually increase the annual output to 14,000 tons starting with 2,000 tons this year.

For the expansion, the company will invest a total of 1.2 trillion won and hire 1,000 people.

Hyosung teamed up with Jeonju Institute of Machinery and Carbon Composite in 2008 to develop carbon fiber technology. In 2011, it eventually became the first company in Korea to make the medium modulus T700 carbon fiber commercially available.

Carbon fiber, though only a fifth of steel in weights, is ten times stronger than steel, which makes it widely be used in various sectors in aerospace, aviation, sports and leisure, automobile and wind power.
