The Gogunsan Islands, which include Sinsido and Seonyudo islands, will be developed as an international marina district.

The Gogunsan Islands were included in the marina basic plan of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) in January 2010 because it is close to China and a shipbuilding industrial cluster is being created in the Saemangeum Industrial Complex. According to the North Jeolla Provincial Government, the Gogunsan Islands, designated an international marina district, will receive KRW 30 billion from the government.

The provincial government plans to construct moorings, seawalls, and parking lots in Sinsido Island for yachtsmen once the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries completes a project to design the area in 2017. It also plans to build clubhouses and hotels in the district by attracting private capital.

A marina refers to a port equipped with mooring facilities for sports yachts and motor boats as well as recreational facilities, such as clubhouses and hotels.
