SGFEZ Held Foreign Investment Roadshow

Sanmangeum Gusan Free Economic Zone (SGFEZ) announced Tuesday that it held a roadshow to promote foreign investment for Honam Metropolitan area in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.

Around 40 representatives from government organizations, local governments and foreign-invested companies including the Invest KOREA (IK) of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, North Jeolla Province, South Jeolla Province, Gwangju city, SGFEZ, A-sung Refractory and Chemport attended the roadshow hosted by the Director General for Cross-Border Investment Policy of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).

At the roadshow, MOTIE introduced foreign investment policies of Park Geun-hye administration and five Honam area governments reported their plans to promote foreign investment.

IK, a national investment promotion agency, held a foreign investment information session and meeting with foreign-invested companies.

Participants discussed measures to promote foreign investment in depth and visited SGFEZ and Saemangum Seawall.

Jo Won-ju, from Albermal Chemicals Korea, noted that he was surprised at the size and scale of Sammangeum Project, adding that he looks forward to the growth of Saemangeum Industrial Complex.

Kim Chang-gyu, Director General for Cross-Border Investment Policy of MOTIE stated that the government plans to provide benefits for foreign-invested companies which create jobs, and emphasized the importance of regional economy growth by facilitating foreign investment.

Kim Yang-won, an official from SGFEZ noted that comprehensive and systematic support from the government is expected to help attracting foreign investment to Honam.
