Gochang country of North Jeolla Province signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the largest Korean food distributor in North America to export its agricultural products.

The MOU was signed between Governor Lee Gang-soo and President of T-Brothers Foods & Trading Ltd of Canada Lee Gye-Oh to export Gochang’s agricultural and specialty products.

T-Brothers, a Vancouver-based company, is the largest Korean food distributor in North America. After its establishment in 1995, it has been supplying Korean food and agricultural products to Canadian supermarkets including Costco, T&T Supermarket and Fairway Markets.

The company is also acting as a bridgehead to promote Korean food to Korean and Canadian communities with its supermarkets.

According to the MOU, T-Brothers will import USD 500,000 of radishes, cabbages and more annually from Gochang.

Gochang agreed to cooperate with T-Brothers for promotion and sales of its agricultural products in Canada.

President Lee noted that people are shifting from Japanese food to Korean food as they look for food safe to eat, adding that the company will endeavor to make Gochang products to be loved by Canadian consumers.

Governor Lee also said T-Brothers has been importing Gochang’s radishes and cabbages for last five years, and expected that the MOU will help Gochang’s agricultural products to penetrate the North American market.
