Gochang Won Grand Prize for Globalization

Gochang County won the grand prize for the regional culture development sector at the 2013 Globalization Excellent Management Award, hosted by Jooang Daily Daily and sponsored by Korean and foreign media.

Awards ceremony was held in the United States last week and governor Lee Kang-soo visited the headquarters of the Los Angeles Times in the United States.

The 2013 Globalization Excellent Management Award recognizes outstanding companies and local governments which lead globalization in the rapidly changing economic circumstances.

Recognition of Gochang County was based on increased exports of wild berry products and processed food, job creation by attracting large-scale companies and development of tourism industry with natural and cultural resources.

Designation of the county as a biosphere reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization earned high scores with higher brand values for agricultural, marine and livestock products.

Governor Lee noted that maximized brand values based on innovative and creative thinking help to lead the way and find new hopes in the era of unlimited global competition.

Governor also held a promotional event in a L.A. store where Gochang’s products are sold, and had an interview with LA Radio to promote the county.
