(IKSAN = Newsis) KORAIL Jeonbuk announced on March 14 that it will establish five railway tourism zones in a bid to vitalize local economy and foster the province’s tourism industry.

The company decided to divide the province into five zones – Saemangeum area (Gunsan, Gimje, Buan), Baekje area (Iksan Jewelry Festival), Central area (Jeonju, Wanju, Jinan), Southwestern area (Jeongeup, Gochang), Southeastern area (Namwon, Sunchang, Imsil) – and develop tourism products specifically designed for the local regions.

To this end, KORAIL Jeonbuk plans to sign a cooperative agreement with Iksan and Jeongeup, two cities that are operating city tour bus services, to attract tourists from the Seoul Metropolitan area.

“KORAIL Jeonbuk will contribute to the development of the regional economy by establishing the tourism zones and attracting railway tourists,” said a KORAIL official.
