According to Yonhap News,

(IKSAN = Yonhap News) The city of Iksan signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on April 2 with Eigado Group, Japan’s largest jewelry company, to develop a jewelry tourism complex.

Under the MOU, Eigado Group will establish a jewelry garden, a herb garden, exhibition hall and additional facilities in the complex.

The Yamanishi-based jewelry company generates profits of about KRW 58 billion per annum from its jewelry stores, hot springs, crystal museum, Mt. Fuji museum, jewelry stores and herb gardens.

The company is set to invest more than it did in Japan’s jewelry garden (KRW 16 billion) and herb garden (KRW 12 billion).

After signing the MOU, Eigado Group commenced the construction design and will discuss the scale and duration of the project with Iksan.

“Once the jewelry and herb gardens are constructed, they will bring synergy effect with the Jewel Palace and Jewelry museum. This will be the opportunity for Iksan to become the city of jewel,” said Lee Han-soo, Mayor of Iksan
