(JEONJU=Yonhap News) A delegation from the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) visited Jeonju City on April 16 and discussed building a mutual cooperation base for the carbon industry.

The delegation met with Jeonju City Mayor Kim Seung-soo and learnt about the city’s plan to develop the carbon industry and agreed to conduct joint studies on carbon composites.

They have also visited the Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology (KCTECH) to look around the carbon products.

The KCTECH and AMRC, which have signed a memorandum of understanding in 2012, are working on developing carbon fiber engine covers for vehicles and commercializing them.

Jeonju City signed an exchange city agreement with Sheffield City of the United Kingdom in 2013 and Kim visited Sheffield City Hall and the AMRC to build a carbon-related relationship.
