According to Yonhap News,

(Ulsan = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yong-tae – In April, Ulsan's exports increased compared to last year, driven by the strong performance of major items such as petroleum products, petrochemicals, and vessels.

According to the April Ulsan Import and Export Trends released by the Ulsan Customs Office on the 18th, the export value stood at USD 8.52 billion, representing a 20.6 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

By product category, petroleum products were tabulated at USD 2.3 billion, a 18.9 percent increase, driven by a rise in unit prices despite a decrease in export volume.

Petrochemicals also recorded USD 1.3 billion, up 6.2 percent, due to an increase in export unit prices.

Vessels reached USD 970 million, a 47.0 percent increase, as the delivery volume of high-value-added vessels, such as LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) carriers, expanded.

Conversely, automobiles recorded USD 2.0 billion, a 4.0 percent decrease, due to a decline in exports to the United States, a major export destination.

Ulsan's import value stood at USD 6.1 billion, dropping by 22.2 percent.

Crude oil, which accounts for the largest share, reached USD 2.93 billion, a 15.5 percent increase, as unit prices rose despite a decrease in import volume.

The trade balance posted a surplus of USD 2.42 billion, maintaining a continuous surplus for 139 consecutive months since October 2014.
