Ulsan Accelerates Tourism Globalization

Ulsan Vice Mayor of Administrative Affairs Park Sung-hwan will visit the headquarters of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Hubei Province, China and Madrid, Spain this week to facilitate mountain tourism in Youngnam Alps and attract an international mountain tourism meeting of the UNWTO in 2015.

Hubei Province has been promoting cooperation with Ulsan city for mountain tourism. Two parties signed a memorandum of understanding for tourism exchanges last year and have been promoting tourism facilitation in two cities.

The 18th North China Travel Fair (NCTF) will be held in Shijiazhuang, the capital of Hebei province. About 800 companies from ten countries will participate in the fair, and Ulsan will also hold an exhibition hall.

Vice Mayor Park will attend the opening ceremony to promote Ulsan to Chinese high-level officials and representatives from other countries.

He will also meet executives of Hubei Province to disscuss tourism exchanges and mutual cooperation.

Vice Mayor Park will visit Andorra to meet Minister of Tourism and Environment of Francesc Camp Torres to attract the UNWTO’s international meeting on mountain tourism which can help to enhance prestige of Ulsan city.

He also plans to meet Secretary-General of the UNWTO Taleb Rifai to deliver Ulsan’s willingness to hold the WTO meeting in 2015 while requesting cooperation for tourism facilitation and globalization.

Established in 1975, the UNWTO aims at tourism facilitation and development through economic development, world peace and prosperity. It has 154 member countries and about 400 international tourism-related organizations, associations and agencies.
