Ulsan Whale Festival Won IFEA Pinnacle Awards

Nam-gu, Ulsan City announced today that the Ulsan Whale Festival won the 2013 IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards in seven categories at the International Festival & Events Association (IFEA)’s 58th Annual Convention and Expo.

According to Nam-gu, it won gold in advertisements, souvenirs, volunteer and staff attires.

Printed materials, radio commercials and its homepage won silver, and whale bread won bronze in new food category.

IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards were introduced in 1987 for development of festivals, and are awarded to festivals around the world in 62 categories.

More than 1,500 festivals from 30 countries competed against each other at the 58th annual convention and expo, which was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 16-18, 2013.

The Ulsan Whale Festival is Ulsan’s representative festival since its introduction in 1995, and has been named one of the promising festivals in Korea for last three years.

This year’s Ulsan Whale Festival drew 820,000 visitors and showed its competitiveness as a cultural content with various programs on whales.
