According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Medical staff and public officials in Russia's Siberia region came to Daejeon for site tours.

The team is mainly comprised of medical staff of state and private hospitals, employees of large travel agencies and public servants in Tomsk, a region close to Novosibirsk City in Siberia, according to Daejeon City.

Starting from watching Korean traditional music performance, the team will look around tourist attractions in Daejeon and visit major general hospitals, international medical examination centers, cosmetic surgery and ophthalmic clinics in the region to exchange medical information.

They will also discuss ways to cooperate in medical tourism through a joint workshops with Daejeon City, Daejeon Marketing Corporation, and medical institutions. Tours to experience Korean traditional culture are also planned as part of the program.

Daejeon City plans to establish a network in Siberia and tap into the region to attract medical tourists by introducing various medical tourism package programs.

"Following the signing of a non-visa agreement between Korea and Russia, the Siberian region has become closer through launching of direct flights to Novosibirsk," a city official said. He added that "As travel agencies and hospital officials participating in the team are willing to work together, we expected to achieve remarkable results in the future."
