KAIST Competletes Construction of Yang Bun Soon Building for Bio and Brain Engineering Education

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Feb. 8, at its main campus in the City of Daejeon, the Korea Advanced Academy of Science and Technology (KAIST) has completed construction of its new Yang Bun Soon Building, designed for bio and brain engineering education.

One year and 6 months since construction began in May 2015, the Yang Boon Soon Building now stands complete with one underground floor and 5 stories over ground. The interior space will be used as research laboratories, animal testing labs, lecture rooms, and for other purposes in the education of bio and brain engineering.

Of the KRW 21.5 billion donated to the Academy in 2014 by Chung Moon Soul, founder and former Chairman of Mirae Industry, for establishing the Moon Soul Graduate School of Future Strategy and cultivating specialists in brain and cognitive sciences, a total of KRW 11 billion was used on constructing the new building.

In gratitude toward the building's donor, KAIST has named it Yang Bun Soon Building, after the former Chairman's wife. Next to it stands the 11-story Chung Moon Soul Building, constructed with KRW 11 billion of the KRW 30 billion donated to KAIST by the former Chairman for the development of IT and BT convergence technologies.
