On March 8, the Daejeon Metropolitan Government announced its plan to use drones for cadastral surveying and disaster control.

This year, the city plans to kick off the project by deploying drones for cadastral surveying, spatial information, and land surveys, which will help the city build the required expertise and train experts.

Then, the city will use the experience to develop regulations on drone operation and management and gradually expand drones’ applications across the gamut of the city’s affairs, including infrastructure management, disaster response and control, and natural resource management.

Mr. Jung Mu-Ho, Head of the city’s Urban Housing Division, said that “[w]e [they] will expand the role of drones in collecting information from areas not readily accessible on land and control disaster sites requiring fast and precise response.”.
