Hanbat National University was Awarded the “Energy Expert Training Program” by the Ministry of Industry

On March 21st, Hanbat National University announced that it was awarded the “Energy Expert Training Program” funded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MTIE) and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning (KETEP).

For the program, the MTIE issued a request for proposal with specific goals for securing the workforce required to respond to the rapid increase in government support for renewable energy and the growth of the related industries while securing advanced technologies related to the sector. A total of KRW 2.7 billion will be committed to the project by the year 2022.

Hanbat National University prepared for the program by forming a consortium of its professors and graduate students from the Electrical Engineering Department, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering Department, and Architectural Engineering Department, and representatives from 19 businesses in Daejeon and other areas. The university was selected for the “Advanced Track for Integrated Urban Renewable Energy System.”

The university will provide education and research support to graduate and undergraduate students interested in the renewable energy industry, and help participating businesses resolve various issues.

Mr. Won-Seok Choi, who leads the university’s project team, said “We now have the opportunity to train experts in convergent education programs and cutting-edge technologies using our experiences in research and practical education.” He added, “We will assist the government in its efforts to revitalize the energy industry and enhance the nation’s energy competitiveness, by training competent experts in the urban renewable energy sector.”
