According to Yonhap News,

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Daejeon City and sister-city Nanjing City, China are about to get even closer.

On June 11, a delegation from Nanjing signed a MOU for the expansion of cultural and economic exchange with Daejeon at the City Hall.

Nanjing City Mayor Lan Shaomin met with Daejeon Acting Mayor Lee Jae-gwan and agreed to help each other's companies enter global markets and increase the exchange of scientific technology and research outcomes.

They also decided to increase private cultural and sports exchange, and agreed to actively support student exchanges among schools so that international students can study more comfortably.

Next year, the two cities will celebrate their 25th year anniversary as sister cities. The time and location for the celebration will be decided at a later date.

Celebrations for the past 10th and 15th anniversaries have been held in Daejeon since the two cities first became sister cities in 1994.

Before the delegation from Nanjing City visited the City Hall, they toured Daejeon's Creative Economy Innovation Center, Innopolis Foundation and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

Nanjing's high-tech industrial complex has worked with Daejeon's Creative Economy Innovation Center in the past to establish an economic platform and for corporate supports services.
