Daejeon City announced on August 14 that it will implement a project to support employment of young employees working in the regional tourism sector. Through the project, the City will provide the labor costs to the tourism businesses that hire unemployed young adults.

Starting from this October until March next year, the City will spend about KRW 450 million for six months to provide support to the tourism businesses hiring unemployed youth.

The tourist hotel businesses with their head office in the region, travel agents that have Daejeon tour products and other tourism related businesses will be provided with the support. The support will go to 36 employees, and each will receive about KRW 1.6 million of monthly pay and KRW 150,000 of housing expenses.

The firm may apply by sending application to Tourism Promotion Team of the Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise by September 10.

"Once the project is implemented, it will help management normailzation of local businesses that are in crisis due to decreased number of tourists and increased wage, and also help revitalize local tourism," said Lee Eun-hak, the Director of Tourism Promotion Division of the City Hall.
