Daejeon Hosts the Korea Balanced Development Expo 2018
The Expo is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development, and organized by 17 cities and provinces, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and Daejeon City. It is the first time to host the event in the central part of the country since the Korea Regional Innovation Convention & Exposition in 2004.
The expo will be held until September 8 and present innovation growth cases under the theme of "Preparing the future growth engine of the region through innovation."
In the Balance Yard, 17 cities and provinces will operate exhibitions under individual themes. Daejeon will present a message that it will lead innovative growth of Korea through Daejeon's technology-oriented startups.
"I hope this serves as an opportunity for the central and the local governments to promote innovation together," Heo Tae-jeong, the mayor of Daejeon said, adding, "Since it is the first national event after the election of the new representatives, we will make efforts to show the value of Daejeon as the special city for the 4th Industrial Revolution."
