(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) Daejeon City announced on September 20 that it will take a leap as a base city for the Fourth Industrial Revolution by nurturing related industries.
The City will spend KRW 2.8 trillion to create an ecosystem of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and support commercialization.
The project is to overcome slowing down economic growth and reducing population as well as revitalize regional economy by creating decent jobs and identifying future promising industry.
The City reviewed the progress of the Fourth Industrial Revolution policies and decided to implement 16 projects that will actualize the policies.
The projects include nurturing 2,000 startups, fostering personnel of the industry, promoting regional convergence and integration of sports industry, building smart city and creating smart transport environment.
Daejeon will create an industrial ecosystem in which one can start a business with a good idea, and create an environment where regional companies can grow by utilizing technologies developed by research institutes in the Daedeok R&D area.
Moreover, the city will establish a cooperative system in the field of regional new industry with Sejong, Chungnam and Chungbuk Provinces.
