On July 2, Daejeon city announced that the 86th International Academic Conference of the Tourism Science Society of Korea on the occasion of "2019-2021 the year of Daejeon visit" to be held for four days starting on July 4.

The conference will be held under the theme of "revitalizing regional tourism in the era of the 4th industrial revolution" attended by about 1,000 participants including professors and experts, discussing development of tourism contents and ways to revitalize tourism by utilizing IT including AI, IoT, and big data.

It will be divided into special sessions and sessions by area, with 55 English papers and 150 Korean papers presented focused on Daejeon.

In particular, there will be Daejeon special session to discuss how to improve Daejeon Wine Fair, develop tourism around Chungcheong's Confucian culture area, and utilize Tram and Cheongju airport.

An official from the city government said, "We attracted an international academic conference in the recognition of 2019-2021 Year of Daejeon Visit," adding that "it will be a venue to seek ways on how Daejeon tourism would develop in the future".
