Daejeon attracted 85 companies in Modern Culture and Art Special Zone

(DAEJEON=Yonhap News) On September 18, Daejeon Metropolitan City announced that 85 companies have moved to Daejeon Modern Culture and Art Special Zone over the past two years, creating 281 new jobs.

Daejeon Modern Culture and Art Special Zone projects aims to bring modern culture and art to blossom by injecting KRW 46 billion in old towns, including JoongAng-dong, Samseong-dong in Dong-gu, and Eunhaeng-dong, Seonwha-dong, Daeheung-dong in Jung-gu by 2021.

There are Daejeon station, previous office of South Chungcheong Province, and old office buildings, reminding old memories and atmosphere of Daejeon.

The City has implemented 22 special projects including renovation of modern buildings and creation of art and romantic streets.

Since the designation as special zone in April 2017, culture-related SMEs including culture-related private education institutions, call center, and cultural places have moved in.

23 people were employed in 14 companies, with revenues of KRW 97.1 million in 2017.

In 2018, 71 companies moved in, creating 258 jobs, with revenues of KRW 13.3 billion, showing a significant growth from the previous year.
