The largest international event since 1993 World Expo will be held again in the city of Daejeon in 2022. Daejeon city delivered the news at the venue where the 6th round of the world congress, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), took place in the city of Durban, RSA, saying UCLG selected Daejeon as a candidate city to host the next summit meeting.

UCLG is a global scale gathering that represents and defends the interests of local governments on the world stage triennially. To celebrated the event, over a thousand city leaders from 140 countries come together to have a conversation for mutual cooperation and co-prosperity among member countries.

The 7th UCLG will be held for four days at Daejeon Convention Center and Daejeon International Exhibition Convention Center starting from October 2022. It is highly expected that over 5,000 guests home and abroad come and visit the city.

The city mayor said “We’re looking forwards to creating tremendous benefits such as production inducement effect worth KRW 38.4 billion and the income effect valued at over KRW 7.6 billion. Being a so called ‘Tech-City’, main theme of the next summit meeting would be ‘The way to make use of science technology for safe and prosperous future.” He added that “We’re going to increase budget allocation to host quality event.”
