According to Yonhap News,

The city of Daejeon announced a trilateral partnership among electronics and telecommunications research institute(ETRI) and a local broadcaster CMB, holding an MOU signing ceremony on Mar. 9 for laying out a masterplan to build up “Daejoen Smart City.” ETRI joins the project as a solution developer, whereas the city government is responsible for the public distribution. CMB takes a roll of marketer with free Wi-Fi connectivity service in rural community.

The city mayor said “Embracing an innovative, landmark smart city model, Daejoen will let the global market be well aware of how excellent it is. It’s believed to become a good opportunity for local businesses to expand to the markets worldwide.”

The city project totaling KRW 2.5 billion was selected as the final nomination as part of the transport ministry’s “National Smart City Challenge” programs last February.
