According to Yonhap News,

The city of Daejeon teams up with Korea Customs Service (KCS) to foster early stage startups, developing artificial intelligence technologies. Both signed an MOU to consolidate mutual partnership for what’s called digital new deal and local development on Aug 5.

The agencies seek for AI application developers, while helping them run prototype testing. They also foster startups ready to turn inventions worth developing into marketable products and services particularly in logistics and security solutions, where KCS has long collected a pool of data. Two partners reached a consensus to strengthen solidarity in a wide range of business projects such as HR training in big data analytics and AI solutions.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), KCS is currently in the course of developing an artificial intelligence detector, designed for IP protection services to clamp down on the unauthorized duplication of copyrighted content.

The investments into the solution development are reported to total KRW 22.8 billion by the end of the year 2023.
