Daejeon city announced on July 12 that its project to establish an Advanced National Defense Convergence Industrial Complex in Ansan has been approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) for industrial complex designation plan.

According to Daejeon-si, the project of establishing Advanced National Defense Convergence Industrial Complex in Ansan planned for the area of about 1.67 million sq. meters, ranging from Oesam-ro, Yuseong-gu to Bugyuseong-daero near Namsejong IC, has been incorporated into the MOLIT's industrial complex designation plan and announced recently.

Previously, the city submitted '2021 Industrial Complex designation plan' to the MOLIT, and obtained approval from the Central Industrial Land Policy Deliberation Committee on July 2.

The city plans to create an advanced national defense industrial complex with about KRW 1.4 trillion investment converging the provision of industrial land, research facilities, residential support, and public functions by connecting national defense industry and local strategic industries including high-tech sensor industry.

It has been said that companies more than doubling the planned area have submitted an intention of occupancy.

An official said, "we will proceed with a process of cancellation of a development restriction zone," adding "we will endeavor to provide new industrial complex to respond to rapidly changing environment, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the fourth industrial revolution."
