According to Yonhap News,

The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced on October 12 that it will pursue empirical research that can store and quickly analyze large-capacity blockchain (distributed data storage technology) data in cooperation with Jeju Province.

Despite an increasing need for technology capable of storing and analyzing large scale, large capacity data in the block chain, the application fields of bock chain technology are limited due to low storage scalability and analysis efficiency.

ETRI is in charge of research that develops technology capable of distributing, storing, and quickly analyzing block-chain big data to improve data storage efficiency and enable high-speed processing. Jeju Province, a joint research partner, is to support to secure empirical data and enable applications on the field.

It will not only strengthen security when storing block-chain data, but also help exploring information quickly by assigning index based on time series, time and place, and events.

In particular, it can raise the efficiency of storage space by avoiding hackers' attacks and decreasing repeated storage as it distributes large-scale and large-capacity data and directly store them in the blockchain.

The research team secured a workplace for collaboration at Jeju Industry-University Convergence Center in August, and has been collecting block-chain local community data, and plans to demonstrate key technologies in Jeju.
