Daejeon-si is to invest KRW 371 billion in science and technology next year to re-create Daedeok Innopolis into an open-type innovation and establish technology-based industry infrastructure.

Based on such content, the city announced on December 17 that it approved 'Comprehensive Plan for Local Science Technology Promotion' for next year.

The budget for science and technology next year is KRW 371 billion, 36% up from this year. Of which, the government budget KRW 154.3 billion is included.

The city plans to establish a project implementation plan to turn about 50-year old Daejeon Daedeok Innopolis into an open-type innovation cluster, and discover cooperation projects with Daedeok Innopolis, led by Daejeon Institute of Science & Technology for Enterprise & People.

In order for the achievements of Daedeok Innopolis R&D to lead to commercialization, the city will establish Convergence Research Innovation Center, Majungmul Plaze, etc. to provide support within the Innopolis.

It will also create a sensor specialized complex in Jangdae-dong, Yuseong-gu to foster and support the high-tech industry, and focus on creating the innovative ecosystem for future mobility in cooperation with local universities.
