The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced on December 31 that it had approved and announced the 'Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-tech Industrial Complex Plan'.

The urban high-tech industrial complex is an industrial complex to be built in the city center to foster high-tech industries such as knowledge industry, cultural industry, and information and communication industry. Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-tech Industrial Complex is the 8th urban high-tech industrial complex designated by the government.

Since designating Pangyo 2 for the first time in November 2015, seven more including Gwangju, Incheon, Daegu, Suncheon, Cheonan, and Ulsan have been designated so far.

Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-tech Industrial Complex will be built in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City, on the area of 72,792 squre meters.

The government plans to develop Daejeon Jangdae Urban High-tech Industrial Complex as the center of the high-tech sensor industry. The advanced sensor industry is a key industry to secure data in the era of the 4th industrial revolution led by artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The 'Innovation Growth Center', to be built within the urban high-tech industrial complex, will also serve as a space to foster and support high-tech sensor-related companies and industries in cooperation with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and Daejeon city.

LH, the project operator, plans to start compensating for land next year, start construction in 2023, and complete the construction in 2025.
