Local institutions and organizations joined hands to turn the 50 or more year-old Daejeon Industrial Complex into a base for local job creation.

Daejeon-si signed an MOU for renovation of the Daejeon Industrial Complex at the City Hall on April 7 with 20 institutions and organizations including universities, government-funded research institutes, economic associations and public institutions.

Daejeon-si plans to designate the Daejeon Industrial Complex as a base industrial complex, the Daedeok Innopolis, where government-funded research institutes and corporate research institutes are gathered, as a linked industrial complex, and Chungnam National University and Hannam University as a linked region, securing new growth engine for the local economy by establishing the ecosystem for corporate growth in virtuous circle through cooperation.

By creating hyper-connected networks, the city aims to achieve KRW 19.203 trillion of production amount (24% up) in 2025, create 51,927 jobs (26% up) through creation of development-type innovative industrial complex, creation of a green industrial complex through infrastructure innovation, creation of a digital industrial complex through manufacturing innovation, and creation of a human industrial complex where young people and talents gather.

The city will attempt to win the 'Local candidates for industrial complex renovation', hosted by the Government's Jobs Committee, with its KRW 300 billion 'industrial complex-centered regional job base innovation plan'.

The government plans to select five places this year and intensively support for 3 years.
