According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon-si announced on May 19 that it had selected 15 companies with high growth potential and excellent capabilities of added-value creation as regional star companies.

Included are 8 companies in the biomedical field, 1 company in the intelligent robot field, and 6 companies in the next-generation wireless communication field.

They will receive support of up to KRW 40 million this year to be used for growth strategy consulting, global marketing strategy establishment, and R&D planning for commercialization.

For two years from next year, they will be provided with up to KRW 400 million for commercialization R&D expenses.

Daejeon-si has selected and intensively fostered about 15 star companies every year since 2018. So far, 51 companies have been selected.

Last year, these companies made such achievements as an 8.7% increase in sales from a year earlier, 186 new hires, and 45 patent applications.
