A joint promotion group will be formed to lead the establishment of special self-government body. The body is an intermediate organization for building a Chungcheong megacity that integrates four metropolitans - Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk - into a single zone of life and economy.

According to Daejeon-si and Chungnam-do, the four metropolitan bodies in the Chungcheong region, which are currently pursuing the building of the megacity, will hold a working-level consultative meeting about the special self-government body's establishment on Aug. 18.

At the meeting, four metropolitan officials will discuss how to form the joint promotion group that will take lead in establishing the special self-government body, as well as the size and location of the body.

In addition, they will debate over the details of the findings of a joint study on plans for the establishment of special self-governing body.

Once a joint promotion group is set up, the four metropolitans should wait for the approval from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

While there could be a change in schedule depending on the date of approval, Daejeon expects that the process of forming the joint promotion group would be completed by this October or November.

Then the group will be at the helm of establishing the special self-government body based on the result of the joint study.
