According to Newsis,

The general assembly of the 2022 Daejeon Federation of Local Governments (UCLG), held this October, will be joined by over 340 cities in 100 countries and is ready for a successful launch.

The UCLG organization committee stated as of Sep. 19, the number of cities that have registered to attend the assembly reached 345 from 109 countries worldwide. On top of that, 34 cities located in South Korea also expressed their participation intention. And a total of roughly 2,338 from 379 cities completed registration.

Given that only 60 cities of 33 countries registered last month, the federation appears to have achieved a noticeable outcome.

The federation poured all-out efforts, including promotion through heads of the si and gun, visiting international organizations, and sending letters to 1106 member cities in 124 countries.

A UCLG official said, "Despite the tight schedule, we expect more overseas cities to participate as the WHO pronounced the end of the pandemic is near," and "Also, more local cities are forecast to take part in with a great interest in international exchanges among cities.

The general assembly of the 2020 UCLG is planned to be launched on Oct. 10 and last until Oct. 14, under the slogan of "City for people who overcome crisis and move forward."
