Daejeon-si Sign Friendly City Agreement with Cities in Uruguay, Türkiye and Gabon

Daejeon-si signed friendly city agreements with Montevideo in Uruguay, Konya in Türkiye, and Libreville in Gabon, to cooperate in various fields ranging from economics, science, culture to tourism, at the Daejeon Convention Center on Oct. 10.

The cities all attended the 2022 United Cities and Local Government (UCLG) that began on the day in Daejeon.

Meanwhile, Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay and a hub for politics, commerce and industry, finance and culture.

Konya is situated in the center of Türkiye, and the 7th largest city in the country. Also, the city is the oldest settlement in the world and roughly 50,000 SMEs are located.

Libreville is the capital of Gabon.

Furthermore, Daejeon-si is scheduled to sign a friendly city agreement with Xian in China on Oct. 13.

Then the number of the city's sister and friendly cities comes at 38 in 27 countries.

"Through further collaboration with major overseas cities, we will expand the horizon of city diplomacy and promote joint development so that Daejeon steps up to become the leading economic city in the world," Lee Jang-Woo, Mayor of Daejeon said.
