K-water signs to cooperate with AWWA

Korea Water Resource Corp. (K-water) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) signed an MoU to cooperate on research and development of technologies in the water supply systems on Nov. 24 at the K-water headquarters.

Two institutions agreed to respond to climate change, cooperate for the future transition to water management, etc.

For digital transition in the water supply, they will establish an artificial intelligence-based smart water purification system and introduce a system to manage outdated water facilities while carrying out research and development in the water supply system tailored to customers.

K-water built the smart water purification system that can operate the water purification process autonomously by using big data and AI technology. And the institution plans to plans to expand the system to 43 purification facilities next year.

“We will do our duty to respond to climate change and cope with future societal changes," K-water CEO Park Jae-hyeon said.
