According to Yonhap News,

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Daeduck Research Complex, titled Daeduck Innopolis, and the 30th anniversary of Daejeon World EXPO 1993, the biggest international event held after 1988 Summer Olympics.

Daejeon Expo Science Park was selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization through public competition for development of night tourism to make it one of the world travel destinations.

Daejeon plans to make overnight trip programs by developing various tourism attractions and night tourism. Under the theme of 'Starry City of Science, Daejeon' (Science City Daejeon☆Starry Daejeon), it designated Daejeon Expo Science Park, Daejeon Convention Center, Media Park, Daejeon Culture Art Center, and Hanbat Arboretum, all are surrounding Gapcheon river, as the major night tourism attractions.

It will provide night travel programs where visitors can enjoy beautiful night sceneries of these sites from 6PM to 9:30PM almost every weekday.

On Apr. 21, Daejeon Metropolitan Council enacted Ordinance on Support for Night Tourism in Daejeon Metropolitan City to give backing to the fledgling night tourism. Along with it, Annual action plans are needed to be established and implemented.

Assemblyman Jung Myung Kook said, "I proposed this ordinance to invigorate the local economy by developing overnight trip programs that will boost the local tourism industry."
