Daejeon Metropolitan Office Promotes Welfare Programs on Education for Over 12,000 Students

Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on May 16 that it will implement 'Welfare Programs on Education in 2023' targeting at 12,300 students from elementary, secondary and high schools in Daejeon city.

The scope of the supports was decided to be expanded, with the Office of Education increasing funds for educational activities and those who are qualified for the funds.

The amount of learning-support funds granted to students from households in the 50% lowest median income bracket will be raised by 23% compared to last year.

Cash aids will be replaced with vouchers and KRW 415,000 worth of them will be distributed to elementary school students, KRW 589,000 to middle school students, and KRW 654,000 to high school students.

The scope of kids qualified to apply for the grants was enlarged from 64% to 80% in trims of the median income.

Revolving around 61 schools that have more kids from the low-income family than others, customized educational services will be provided by Daejeon city, including education-welfare-service professionals.

Daejeon Metropolitan Office expects to finance KRW 19.3 billion on these educational programs this year.
