According to Yonhap News,

Daejeon-si announced on August 21 that 1.1 million visitors came to the "Daejeon Zero o'clock Festival" held in the original downtown of Daejeon for a week from August 11.

During the event, the number of passengers using Daejeon Station, Jungang-ro Station, and Jung-gu Office Station on Railroad Line 1 reached 449,925, up 81% from the previous week.

Daejeon-si counted visitors by analyzing data provided by on-site counter, subway users, and mobile service companies.

A city official said, "more than 70% of all visitors were counted as outsiders", adding "the Daejeon Zero o'clock festival appears to have led to a greater influx of tourists."

The city has considered the record of the largest number of visitors to a single event since the 1993 Daejeon Expo, a safe festival with no accidents, revitalization of the original downtown economy, and a clean venue as the greatest achievements of the festival.

The city added that sales of food districts in the original downtown more than doubled than usual, and some stores recorded sales of up to KRW 20 million per day.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo said, "We will improve content competitiveness by making up for shortages pointed out during this year's festival," adding, "we will prepare a blueprint for next year's festival by taking into account experts' opinions."
