The economic delegation of the Daejeon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), which is on a business trip to Australia, visited the Business Chamber of Queensland on October 12 and promised to expand business exchanges and cooperation.

Daejeon Mayor and about 20 members of the delegation were officially invited by Brisbane City, Australia. They also visited the Business Chamber of Queensland to discuss measures to expand economic cooperation.

The chairman of the Daejeon CCI, who attended as a representative of the delegation, said, "With signing the FTA and entry into force of RCEP last year, Australia has become Korea's fifth largest trading partner," adding, "Among them, Queensland, which has one of the world's best educational system, trade, and tourism infrastructure, played an important role."

The chairman said, "Daejeon is a city with advanced construction, manufacturing, food processing, and MICE industries. If trade and investment with Queensland companies are further expanded, it will help the economic development of both cities."

Daejeon's mayor asked Queensland companies to invest and expand business exchanges especially in Daejeon's four major industries, including aerospace, nano-semiconductor, bio, and defense industries.

In response, the Business Chamber of Queensland said, "On behalf of business people in Queensland, we sincerely welcome the visit of Deajeon economic delegation," adding, "this meeting is expected to help Queensland and Daejeon entrepreneurs explore business opportunities and continue cooperation."

The Daejeon Economic delegation consists of more than 20 entrepreneurs, President of the Daejeon Business and Employment Agency, and CEO of Daejeon City Corporation, among others. It participated in the 2023 The 2023 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (APCS) held in Brisbane, Australia, engaged in activities to expand business exchanges between the two cities.
