According to Yonhap News,

On February 6, Daejeon-si announced its plan to expand exchanges in culture, economy and sports with Sapporo, its sister city.

Daejeon's mayor and the representatives of local businesspeople visited Sapporo City Hall on the previous day, and discussed measures to expand exchanges with mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto of Sapporo city.

Daejeon's mayor Lee said, "Daejeon Metropolitan Dance Theater and snow sculptures will visit Sapporo Snow Festive scheduled for this month," adding "we hope Sapporo's leading art groups to visit Daejeon's Zero 0'Clock Festival scheduled for August".

He also expressed his intention that Daejeon-based professional sports clubs such as soccer or baseball have exchange matches with Sapporo's local sports clubs.

They also promised to discuss the opening of direct routes between Cheongju Airport and Sapporo Airport in more detail in the future.

Daejeon-si plans to revise its ordinance so that Sapporo citizens visiting Daejeon can receive discount in admission fees for cultural facilities from April this year.

The two sides will go ahead with a plan to give Daejeon citizens the same benefits when visiting Sapporo.

The visit by Daejeon delegation to Sapporo was made at the request of Sapporo's mayor when he attended the opening ceremony of Daejeon Zero 0'Clock Festival in August last year.

Daejeon and Sapporo have maintained exchanges in various fields since establishing sister city relationship in 2010.
