On December 30, Daejeon-si announced that its project to "Create a Special Video Production Base" was finally selected for the "Regional Specialized Content Development Support Project" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The project period will be three years, and the city aims to create a special video ecosystem environment starting from next year and strengthen its capabilities to establish Daejeon's own special video ecosystem brand in 2027. The city will receive a total of KRW 5.55 billion in state funds during this period.
Next year, the city will create a special video ecosystem environment by pushing for such projects as filming production support projects using special video technology and local resources, short-form content production support, special video technology research and development (R&D) and commercialization, fostering specialized manpower, industry-academia joint campus operation, and festivals (special video film festival).
The city plans to increase and advance the expertise of each business in 2026, establish brand value by securing competitiveness by supporting market entry in earnest in 2027.
Through this project, the city expects to establish a life-cycle platform for special video content production and promote the establishment of a convergence special video content cluster that is currently underway as well as the influx of video producers from all over the country to Daejeon.
The city is currently building a convergence special video content cluster on the site of the Daejeon Tourism Organization in Doryong-dong, Yuseong-gu, by investing KRW 147.6 billion. The cluster will house spaces for 80 tenant corporates, five filming studios and exhibition experience.
