On January 21, Daejeon-si announced that it had achieved 1st place in the comprehensive uation of research and development special zones (Innopolis), conducted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, receiving an 'Excellent' rating, the only one among five special zones in the country. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Daejeon has been selected as an 'Excellent' Innopolis in both comprehensive and annual uations.

The uation assessed the contributions of local governments in the development of Innopolis over the past three years, including the establishment of development strategies, infrastructure improvements, support for resident companies, and cooperation in technology commercialization. The five Innopolis subject to uation were Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, and Jeonbuk.

Daejeon-si was highly praised for its exceptional contribution to Innopolis development compared to other regions, strengthening the foundation for Innopolis' growth through the establishment of industry-specific development strategies and ordinances. The city also received recognition for leading the development of the Innopolis Daedeok based on these efforts.

Additionally, the establishment of Daejeon Investment Finance, the first of its kind in the country, to support resident companies in the Innopolis Daedeok, was also recognized as an outstanding achievement.

As a result of this uation, Daejeon-si will receive a government incentive of KRW 3.045 billion, which will be allocated to commercialization of strategic technology research outcomes in the Innopolis Daedoek and Innopolis innovation growth scaling up in 2025.

Meanwhile, Daejeon-si has received incentives for three consecutive years, amounting to KRW 2.06 billion in 2022, KRW 2.656 billion in 2023, and KRW 1.684 billion in 2024.
