On February 5, Daejeon-si and the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to successfully host the International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) Annual Meeting.
The 95th ICOLD Annual Meeting will be held over seven days in September 2027.
The MOU includes roles of each party regarding the overall event, such as: ▲ providing administrative and financial support for the ICOLD Annual Meeting, and ▲ promoting Daejeon's excellent technology and infrastructure resources.
ICOLD is an international organization in the water resources sector participated by over 100 countries, and its annual meeting is a platform for sharing and discussing the latest water resources technologies and policy trends.
With the meeting, more than 1,500 participants from over 100 countries are expected to visit Daejeon.
The city expects that the event will stimulate domestic consumption and revitalize the local economy.
Daejeon Mayor stated, "This will be a crucial opportunity for Daejeon to become a major city in the global water resources technology."
