The Daejeon Advanced Root Industry Council was launched on February 26 to strengthen the competitiveness of the root industries that form the foundation of local manufacturing, as well as to expand cooperation with advanced industries.
The council operates in seven subcommittees, composed of root technology-demanding companies and relevant institutional stakeholders, with the aim of promoting organic collaboration between local root companies and advanced industries, and creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem.
The council plans to strengthen cooperation with root technology-demanding companies, promote joint research and development, discover new business opportunities, and provide education, training, and marketing support to enhance the competitiveness of root companies and further expand connections with advanced industries.
Root industries are essential to core manufacturing technologies such as molding, casting, welding, forging, surface treatment, and heat treatment, and play a critical role in supporting the competitiveness of various advanced industries such as automotive, semiconductor, aerospace, and eco-friendly energy industries.
Daejeon-si plans to collaborate with the council to promote the deployment of smart factories, support eco-friendly manufacturing processes, and strengthen ties with space, semiconductor, and electric vehicles industries.
Daejeon's mayor remarked, "Root industries are an essential foundation for the development of advanced industries," and emphasized, "Daejeon will actively support the mutual growth of advanced manufacturing and root industries."
