Daejeon to participate in Quantum Korea 2025 to promote its status as a hub for quantum science
Daejeon City will participate in "Quantum Korea 2025," the largest quantum technology event in Korea, to be held on June 24-26 at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul. The city will focus on promoting its capabilities and ecosystem as the leading city in the quantum industry.
According to Daejeon-si on June 24, in collaboration with Daejeon Technopark, the city will operate an exhibition booth at the event, where it will showcase quantum technology-related infrastructure, outcomes from industry-academic-research collaborations, and domestic and international cooperation cases. The city plans to highlight its strategic strengths as the optimal location for the national quantum cluster.
Quantum Korea, now in its third year, is the largest global quantum technology event in Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT. It serves as a platform for key institutions and experts in the quantum field to discuss the latest technological trends and collaboration opportunities.
This year’s event is held under the theme "100 Years of Quantum, Awakening Industry," in celebration of the United Nations-designated "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ)."
At the exhibition, Daejeon will introduce a comprehensive quantum ecosystem that spans quantum technology demonstration, industrialization, talent development, and international cooperation, and will actively pursue expanded collaboration with relevant domestic and international institutions and companies.
An official from Daejeon-si stated, "Daejeon is a city with the best infrastructure and research and industrial capabilities in quantum science and technology in the country. Through this event, we will promote Daejeon's competitiveness both domestically and internationally and lay the foundation for attracting the national quantum cluster."
Daejeon is home to leading domestic quantum research institutions such as KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), KRISS (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science), ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), and KISTI (Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information). The city has been building a world-class quantum ecosystem and has recently expanded its global network through collaborations with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States and the province of Quebec, Canada.
